I refused to say “good-bye”. Instead I said “see ya later” as I hugged her so tight I could feel her ribs and breasts. I kissed the soft skin of her neck over and over taking in her smell.

I literally walked out of the woods last Friday after eight days of backpacking along the Washington Pacific Crest Trail. Two of my daughters, a spiritual formation friend and her daughter were part of the group. It was stunning, epic, challenging, tearful, joyful, and well worth the 65 miles we traversed together.

Recently, I posted the image below on Instagram along with my story of a healing moment during yoga and prayer. A friend commented and asked “How did you/where did you learn to open yourself that way?”

I think his eyes were blue.
